Onyfix: The Painless, Non-Surgical Alternative for Ingrown Toenails
Revolutionising Nail Correction in Singapore
Traditional treatments for curved or ingrown nails often involve painful clipping or invasive surgery. At Podiatry Quest, we are proud to offer Onyfix, a revolutionary nail correction bracing system that is completely non-invasive and needle-free. Unlike traditional methods, Onyfix acts as a guide and “straightener” for your nail, using a specialised composite resin to retrain the nail to grow in a natural, flat shape. This process eliminates the cause of the pain without the need for local anesthesia or any downtime.
Why Onyfix is the Preferred Choice for Gentle Care
-
100% Pain-Free & Needle-Free: The application process is entirely external. There are no injections, no cutting of the skin, and no discomfort during the treatment, making it the perfect choice for those with a fear of needles or surgery.
-
No Activity Restrictions: Unlike nail surgery, there is no wound to heal. You can resume swimming, sports, and wearing your favorite shoes almost immediately after your appointment.
-
Safe for High-Risk Patients: Because there is no wound creation, Onyfix is the gold-standard ingrown toenail treatment for diabetics and patients with poor circulation who may not be suitable candidates for traditional surgery.
-
Ideal for Children and Infants: We understand that clinical visits can be scary for little ones. Onyfix allows us to treat pediatric ingrown toenails in a calm, “ouch-free” environment.
How the Onyfix Bracing System Works
During your session, our Registered Podiatrist prepares the nail surface and applies the Onyfix primer and composite. This brace is then hardened under a specialised LED light. As your nail grows naturally over the following weeks, the brace exerts a gentle, consistent force that lifts the nail edges out of the painful skin folds. It is a physiological nail correction that delivers lasting results by fixing the root cause: the nail’s curvature and architecture.
For recurring cases, learn about our Permanent Ingrown Toenail Surgery (Partial Nail Avulsion) which offers a 95%+ success rate.
Stop the Pain. Prevent the Infection.
An ingrown toenail is more than an inconvenience—it’s a clinical risk. We provide immediate, gentle relief and permanent solutions to ensure you never have to deal with the same painful nail again.
Why Choose Podiatry Quest for Nail Care?
- Gentle Conservative Care: Many cases can be resolved without surgery through expert “clearing” and sterile re-shaping of the nail edge.
- Permanent Solutions: For chronic issues, we offer Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) – a minor, in-clinic procedure with a 95% success rate in stopping the nail from ever ingrowing again.
- Painless Procedures: We use localised numbing techniques to ensure that even the most sensitive patients feel nothing during the treatment.
- Same-Day Relief: We prioritise emergency appointments for infected or highly painful nails to get you back in your shoes immediately.
Frequently Asked Questions: Ingrown Toenail Treatment
Does ingrown toenail treatment hurt?
At Podiatry Quest, we prioritise patient comfort. For conservative care and the Onyfix nail correction system, the process has minimal pain and needle-free. If a minor surgical procedure is required for permanent relief, we use a local anaesthetic to ensure the area is fully numbed, making the experience virtually pain-free.
What is the Onyfix nail correction system?
Onyfix is a revolutionary, non-invasive bracing system that corrects the shape of the nail through natural growth. It is completely painless, involves no needles or surgery, and is an ideal solution for children, diabetics, and those with involuted (curved) nails.
Can I walk normally after the treatment?
Yes. Most patients can walk comfortably and resume daily activities immediately after conservative treatment or Onyfix application. If you undergo minor nail surgery, you can still walk, though we recommend wearing open-toed shoes or loose footwear for the first 24 hours.
How do I know if my ingrown toenail is infected?
Common signs of infection include persistent throbbing pain, significant redness, swelling, and the presence of pus or clear fluid (weeping). If you notice these symptoms, it is important to see a Podiatrist immediately to prevent the infection from spreading.
Is the treatment for ingrown toenails permanent?
While conservative trimming provides temporary relief, a Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) is a minor surgical procedure that offers a permanent solution with a success rate of over 95%. Onyfix also provides long-term correction by retraining the nail to grow in a flatter, healthier shape.
