Our “Precision-First” Clinical Process
The reason home treatments often fail is that the medicine never actually reaches the virus. It sits on top of a thick layer of dead, protective skin. At Podiatry Quest, we perform a critical clinical step before any treatment is applied:
1. Sterile Debridement (The Clean Base)
Before applying any medication, we use sterile surgical blades to carefully debride and shave the wart down to its very base.
- Why it matters: By removing the hard, overlying callus, we expose the active viral tissue. This ensures the treatment penetrates deeply and directly into the source of the infection.
- Is it painful? Because we are only removing the non-sensory “dead” skin covering the wart, this step is typically painless and provides immediate relief from the pressure of the growth.
2. Medical-Grade Nitric Acid Treatment
Once the wart is debrided to its base, we apply a concentrated clinical acid to precisely cauterize the viral structure.
What to Expect:
- Safety & Comfort: Treatment is safe and largely pain-free. While the nitric acid is highly effective, the application itself is very well-tolerated.
- Post-Treatment Feel: The wart area may feel slightly sore for the first 1-2 days after treatment as the medication works.
- No Activity Restrictions: You will still be able to walk, exercise, and go about your day. It will not affect your usual activities.
- The Path to Resolution: Foot warts can be stubborn to treat and have high recurrence rates. To ensure the virus is completely eliminated, an average of 4-5 sessions of treatment is typically required for complete resolution.
